How is Lookback different from a photo sharing app?

The best part of looking at old photo albums with friends and family isn't the photos - it's the stories that we reminisce about when we look at the photos. Traditional photo apps make it easy to save all your photos, but what good are photos without stories?

We built Lookback to make it easy to share stories alongside your photos. Simply add your photos, record your story with a quick video or audio recording, and share it privately with anyone.

When your invites view your memory, they’ll get to listen to your story while they scroll through your photos. They can even add their own photos and record their own stories to your memory.

Just imagine how much happier you'll be in 5, 10, or 20 years from now - instead of just having photos of your memories, you'll also have videos of your loved ones telling the stories that your memories special.

Why is Lookback free? Is there a catch?

What we offer for free today will always be free - there is too much to be done to make sharing, preserving, and reliving stories of your memories the norm. Use Lookback as much as you want - all we ask in return at this point:

1) share with friends and family
2) give us feedback so we can learn as much as possible to improve the experience
3) give us a good review on the app store if you like it!

How does Lookback keep my memories safe, secure, and private?

We created Lookback so that close friends and family could have a safe place to share, preserve, and relive the most important moments of their life.

We do not and we will not sell your data. We require users to create a Lookback account so that you and only you can access your memories. And unlike traditional social media apps, you get to choose who to share your memories with - only the people you invite to a memory will be able to view, reply to, or comment on the memory.

Who can see my memories?

Sending a memory in Lookback is similar to sending an email - title your memory, add your photos, record your story, and choose who you want to share the memory with from your contact list. Only the people you select will be able to view, reply to, or comment on the memory.

What if I share a memory with someone who doesn't have the Lookback app?

You can share Lookback memories with anyone in your contacts! If they do not have the Lookback app, they'll receive a text message with a unique link to view your memory on the web. They'll only need the Lookback app if they want to add photos, stories, and comments to your memory.
